Welcome to Philippine School

The Guidance Office seeks to be a partner in furthering the mission of the Philippine School Sultanate of Oman in developing holistic learners that is imbued with Godly Character, Global Mind and Patriotic Spirit. The guidance program is premised on the basic principle that each individual has worth and dignity and therefore deserves to be valued as a unique creation of God.  The Guidance Program adheres to the following principles:

  1. Guidance is an integral part of the educational program.  It is inherent in a school that is concerned with its students' well-being.
  2. Objectives are towards self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-direction;
  3. Emphasis is on prevention rather than cure;
  4. Guidance is not imposed but based on counselee's recognized needs;
  5. Proper maintenance of students' cumulative records;
  6. Personal and professional competence of counsellor/s;
  7. Commitment to professional growth through research, evaluation, and seminars;
  8. Guidance is a team effort involving the Guidance Counselors, Faculty, Administrators and Parents.

Specific Objectives: The PSSO Guidance Office expects the following outcomes that may result in the implementation of its Guidance and Counseling Programs:

  1. For Psians to know themselves better in terms of their strengths, weaknesses, abilities, aptitude, interests, personality, and values through the administration and interpretation of psychological tests
  2. For Psians to cope with the demands of their school life through orientation and information service focusing on their career, academic and personal/social life.
  3. For Psians to be familiar with the rules and regulations of the school, policies and practices.  As well as the school administrators and personnel, buildings, and facilities for the students to have a better adjustment in school.
  4. For Psians to be plan their future and have realistic career goals and path.
  5. For Psians to gain knowledge on the different careers and professions through career guidance curriculum and career counseling.
  6. For Psians to avail individual or group counseling services and referrals when the need arises to encourage self-knowledge, acceptance and esteem.
  7. For Psians to understand and process their misbehaviors through counseling and experiential interventions.
  8. For Psians to have their own individual cumulative record for better assessment that is needed during counseling and in case conferences with administrators, parents, and teachers.
  9. For Psians to learn the act of volunteerism by participating in Peer Support Group Programs that enables them to share their knowledge and experiences to other students.
  10. For Psians to learn more about themselves, their community and their country through structured learning experience activities.
  11. For students with educational needs (SEN) to be properly assisted in the mainstream classes by providing academic assistance and accommodation and referral to outside professionals.

ORIENTATION SERVICE                                                                                                                                                             Designed to help the students know their school and the services they can avail 

INDIVIDUAL INVENTORY                                                                                                                                                         Focuses on the collection of relevant and important information about the students which are kept and updated for reference purposes.       

 INFORMATION SERVICE                                                                                                                                                      Disseminates information through seminars, talks, film showing and other activities in the school regarding personal, emotional, school and career concerns. We also provide brochures, electronic materials etc. for added information.   

 CAREER GUIDANCE SERVICE                                                                                                                                                   Gives students assistance in connection with choosing and preparing for their career. We provide information regarding     requirements in other schools, colleges, and universities. We provide Career Talks and Career Counseling.

TESTING SERVICES                                                                                                                                                                    Administers and interprets psychological tests concerning ability, personality, aptitude and interest.

COUNSELING SERVICE                                                                                                                                                                     The heart of the guidance program. The Guidanc Counselor is always there to listen and help students handle their problem effectively.

GROUP GUIDANCE SERVICE                                                                                                                                                 Utilizes structured dynamics activities and group discussions that provide meaningful learning experiences to enhance the intellectual growth and personality development of the students 

FOLLOW-UP SERVICE                                                                                                                                                                Concerned with what happens to students while in school or after they have left school.

RESEARCH AND EVALUATION                                                                                                                                             Conducts evaluation, assessment, and research to ensure the objectivity and effectiveness of programs and services.
